Bill Grove writes:Yesterday evening my wife and I attended a remarkable event at the London Palladium. It was a most moving and entertaining tribute to Bill Kenwright, whom we had both known as Sixth Formers in Mount Street and Blackburne House. Bill's partner Jenny and his daughter Lucy had collaborated with Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber to make the evening possible and we were astounded at the list of celebrities who had enthusiastically given their time to attend in person or on screen to remember Bill. Bradley Walsh hosted the evening and among those who appeared on stage to share their memories were Dames Judi Dench, Maureen Lipman and Vanessa Redgrave, Sir Ian McKellen, Martin Shaw, Jimmy Nail and Lee Mead. There were also recorded video messages from Barry Manilow, John Trevolta, Carole King and Sir Tommy Steele. Yes, he knew them all, and so many others, and the love and respect they felt for Bill was palpable. This was primarily a show-business evening, but there were numerous references to Bill's other passion, Everton Football Club, though kindly no-one ventured to mention the current situation at Goodison Park!
